Western Region table quiz

The Society’s Western Region table quiz, whih was held on February 21 in the House Hotel in aid of the Galway and Mayo/Roscommon Hospices, was a great success. There were 17 tables of four, and teams on the night included building contractors, general practitioners, quantity surveyors, building surveyors, engineers, solicitors, accountants, etc. Most of the participants waited around after the quiz

Appreciation: Laurence Liddle, March 6, 1915 – September 11, 2012

Laurence Hamilton Liddle was born in Howth in 1915. He graduated in general studies from Edinburgh University in 1937, and returned to Dublin to teach until the outbreak of war in 1939, when he enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps based in York. Also in 1939, Laurence married  Katharine Gwynn, daughter of the headmaster of Baymount School

Member benefit – OSi group scheme

The Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSi) group scheme, which offers a 20% reduction on the annual copyright licensing fee, will operate again in 2013, and will be available to both estate agents and surveyors. The licence fee applicable to estate agents is based on a unit price per outlet of €400 plus

Claire Solon FSCSI FRICS has been appointed to the position of Head of Estates Management at ESB. Formerly Development Manager of ESB 1927 Properties Ltd, Claire is a Past Honorary Secretary of the SCS, and past Chair of the Society’s Planning and Development Division. She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Surveyors Journal.

Reminder on new housing standards
