The 2013 Construction Manager of the year is Thomas O’Connor of Collen Construction for managing the construction of three Eirgrid and ESB substations during a 12-month period.
Thomas received his title at the Construction Manager of the Year Awards dinner in the Conrad Hotel on June 7. The adjudicators stated that Thomas showed exceptional technical capability and, in addition, an ability to communicate effectively with all members of his design and build team, making him a worthy recipient of the title.
It was a night of winners, with four gold, three silver, four bronze and one commendation awarded in a number of categories. The adjudicators said that entries were of an exceptionally high standard with each winner truly deserving of their award.
The presentations were made by Duncan Stewart RIAI Thomas O’Connorwho also spoke about how the future of the construction industry lies in our ability to utilise existing buildings and the need to upgrade to the highest ecological standards to adhere to EU requirements and improve our carbon footprint within the industry.

Previous winner Donal McCarthy also attended for the handover of the perpetual trophy, together with assessors and adjudicators Gillian Fletcher, Louis Gunnigan, Elina Bychkova, Gerry O’Neill, Vincent McCarthy, Allan McMullen and Dermot Russell.
