Kingspan has added a new member to its engineering department in Ireland. Rebecca Galvin has recently started in the role and spoke about her new position and the many different opportunities it provides.
“My current role is Design Manager (Engineering) for Ireland, heading up the design services team based in
our head office in Kingscourt, Co. Cavan. Working within the insulated panels division, I provide structural design calculations for engineers, architects and steelwork fabricators for our full range of products.”
One thing Rebecca enjoys about the job is the variety it offers: “Every day is different. The team is always working on a number of projects at any one time so we’re kept busy. Some days I can be in the office working a on steelwork or panel design and the next I could be out with the commercial team, meeting with customers and design teams or giving structural CPDs on our products”.
Prior to taking up this role with Kingspan in Cavan, Rebecca worked for the company in the UK for three years. She is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin where she studied civil, structural and environmental engineering.
This role has enabled her to move back to Ireland. She is excited about the job and is glad to be where she is: “Kingspan has provided me with the training and support to develop my engineering knowledge. As an Irish company with a strong global presence and a diverse range of products, working for Kingspan has afforded me the opportunity to work at home and abroad, with great people, and allowed me to progress my career”.
Kingspan was founded in the 1960s by Eugene Murtagh and had revenue of €2.77bn in 2015.
