Chartered Building Surveyors Pat McGovern and Val O’Brien have merged their firms.

Pat McGovern and Val O’Brien have merged their businesses to form McGovern O’Brien, which the partners believe will widen and improve the range of services available to their client base. It comes as they see an upturn in the Irish property market reflected in the increased demand for professional building surveying services. They believe the move will strengthen their market share in Ireland, particularly in the Dublin area. The combined firm will have two offices (in Dublin and Navan) and employ 21 staff, of which seven are Chartered Building Surveyors. It means that they are set to become one of the leading independent firms of building surveyors in Ireland.
The two companies have been operating complementary services for some time. By joining forces McGovern O’Brien will continue to grow its business and strengthen its team. It is in a prime position to maximise opportunities and to continue to deliver a quality service to clients. McGovern O’Brien offers a full range of property surveying services, including residential and commercial property due diligence and building surveys. Its main client base comprises architects, solicitors, general practice surveyors, estate agents, banks, investors and property managers.
According to Pat and Val: “This merger is a milestone in the history of both companies and will allow us to move forward together to an exciting future. We welcome all enquiries and are equipped to deal with any aspect of building surveying”. The company also has a new website –
