The Society has welcomed the publication of the Property Asset Management Delivery Plan, ‘Accommodating Change – Measuring Success’. The Society notes that the Plan recognises the potential role of professional property management to reduce building running costs and ensure better value for money for taxpayers. Society President Micheál O’Connor said: “The running of public built estate is a significant cost to the exchequer, so the SCSI welcomes the Government’s commitment to improve how the stock of buildings in public ownership or tenancy are acquired, managed and disposed of.”

The Society also welcomed the provisions for the establishment of a Property Managers’ Network, the adoption of European Standards for Facility Management (ISEN 15221) and a new web-mapping register, which Minster Hayes discussed at the launch.
