It has been a busy few months for the Young Chartered Surveyors Committee. The business card BBQ took place on September 28 in Merrion Square. About 70 young members were joined by representatives from The Irish Times, and the YCSI handed over a cheque for €1,500 to Focus Ireland.

The Young Surveyors annual ball was held in the former Berkeley Court Hotel, now The Clyde Court Hotel, on November 3. Numbers were up by 30% from last year. Due to the incredible teamwork by the committee attracting a number of well-known sponsors, tickets were well subsidised, which allowed for some fantastic raffle prizes, together with a drinks reception in addition to the meal and wine.

Society President Roland O’Connell and YCSI Chairperson Marcus O’Connor delivered speeches at the event. The overall message was that we must have professionalism, standards and ethics at the forefront of our working day, together with an energetic and positive approach to the tougher times we have endured. We look forward to hosting this event again in 2013.
